Jonathan's Place - Give a Child a Smile for Christmas

6 years ago I began researching local charities around the Dallas/Ft Worth Metroplex, looking for one that I could get behind and support with money, fundraisers, etc and after learning about Jonathan’s Place I knew immediately that would be my charitable partner. I hope that I can convince just a few more people to get familiar with Jonathan’s Place and help the kids that really need to know love does exist.

Please take a minute of your time and visit http://www.jpkids.org/. I know a lot of kids have suffered neglect and abuse and have grown up with the physical and emotional scars so I am pleading that you do what you can to make a difference. I know we are in a media age of quick reading and bombarded with links everywhere we turn…with that said, here is a brief description of Jonathan’s Place (taken directly from http://www.jpkids.org/):

For 15 years, Jonathan's Place has been taking care of the Dallas area's youngest victims of abuse. Jonathan's Place provides this care through three programs - a "home-style" emergency shelter for abused, abandoned and neglected children, a Foster & Adoptive Family Program and a Residential Therapeutic Program. The emergency shelter provides specialized services and 24-hour residential care and is the only emergency shelter in Dallas County that provides residential services for children in crisis under the age of 10.

In the Foster & Adoptive Family Program, Jonathan's Place recruits potential foster and adoptive families, conducts a comprehensive training program and verifies the families as either foster or foster-to-adopt families. At this point, Jonathan's Place places children from Child Protective Services into the care of these families. Jonathan's Place is the only organization in Dallas County and one of only a few organizations in the State of Texas that provides a continuum of care from crisis placement in an emergency shelter to placement with a foster family to, ultimately, adoption.

The Residential Therapeutic Program provides long-term residential care to girls age 10 - 17 that require a higher level of therapeutic care than the children in our shelter. The Jonathan's Place Residential Therapeutic Program is the only such program in Dallas County.
